The two
worlds.
The fable happens in two places that never share a frame until the very end. One belongs to the peacock, one to the panther. They are not told apart by the time of day but by what they are made of: stone and lava on one side, water and leaf on the other. Four plates each, and a box under each one for whatever you make of it.
The peacock's world.
Water · 4 platesTurquoise and jade, and a river that is the only thing moving in a set made of flat cards. The jewellery arrives once the water is there, laid in the riverbed rather than held.

The panther's world.
Fire · 4 platesTerracotta and amber, carved bands in the rock, a river of light at the bottom of the valley. The light comes from the ground here, never from the sky.
